Yes, it is constructive in the sense that in a very visible way reminds
us about the need to make progress.

Having said that, it is perfectly natural for communities to reshape due
to exploration, change of focus and other such factors, so it is not
surprising that you, as an active developer with your own set of ideas
and expectations, are trying to make things happen.

Actually, *all* programming libraries that exist today were born out of
dissatisfaction, SOCI including. :-)

I will wish you good luck with your new effort and I will try to be
constructive with these points:

- Try to gather some kind of core team around you, this will give your
product more credibility.

- Don't overinvest. DB is a very wide subject and it is easy to spread
too thin feature-wise. It is better to solve one specific problem well
than many problems poorly.

- Be careful with the Boost submission effort, which you have already
started on the Boost mailing list. You will need to clearly define what
you want before going full steam in this direction. Boost exists for a
long time already and there is a reason for why several things are still
missing there (hint: the reason is not entirely technical). But I will
shut up on this. ;-)

In short: good luck and be careful. :-)

Regards,
