OK, I understand your point now. You are right, it is much simpler (and less
intrusive). And probably better for the release to come.
Well, my point is to have the same code from within SOCI and from outside of
SOCI. It is easier to test and to maintain. For instance, to test your
version, we first need to install SOCI somewhere, and then to have external
test programs using the public SOCI API.
So, for the long run, I'd prefer to insert a 'soci' directory at the root of
the source sub-directory (that is, having <top of soci
dir>/src/soci/{core,backend}). But I agree that your solution is simple and
elegant for now :)
Nevertheless, I'll try to continue synchronising my "buried_headers" patch
for a while, just in case some others are interested.
