I assume you mean this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOEMv0S8AcA#t=41m5s He advocates the creation of a 'GNU Linux Social Networking Stack' His example is running this stack on any hardware that runs free software, such as $29.99 server you can just plug in, I think was for simplicity. The stack will still run on any other server you chose, would be my interpretation.
