I would just like to say thanks to all that helped me with my transition struggles. In truth it hasn't been that bad. It helps a lot, I suppose, that I've been using as much free software as possible on XP for a while now, so it 's just a matter of using the same programs under Linux.

Observations:

Gnome is very civilized desktop environment. I really like the multiple workspaces.

RPM's are very easy to install. Every bit as easy as Windows installers, generally.

Harald and Smoot: Thanks. The vfat partitions mount automatically now. And I stopped Evolution from launching at boot-up. It's a decent looking email/PIM but it sucks for ng's. Much prefer Moz.

The adventure continues....
