My offer to speak at a small local trade fair on OpenOffice.org was just turned down. Here's the reason:

"I decided not to go with the openoffice topic because microsoft chose to focus on the area of windows in an open source world. While the content of your presentation would be vastly different, I only had room for one windows vs. linux presentation."

ZDNet tend to place articles about OpenOffice.org in their Linux section :(

I have corrected the opening paragraph on an initial article from "Linux office suite" to "cross-platform office suite", but it stayed in the Linux section.

I won't bother pointing out that the volume of ignorance is turned up to max here. It's interesting, though, that Microsoft should find it worthwhile to address such a topic.

It is a common misconception that OOo only works on Linux. Perhaps we need to state more clearly that nearly 70% of our current users have OOo on a Windows platform?

One of the reasons why I think industry and community shows are better for potential users. Linux shows are useful to attract people to the project, especially developers. They already know about OOo and are more interested in OOo the community.
