Ummm ... a lot of them are?? I've noticed that you get that from lists where a lot of the members are teenage. The other group is people who need to belong to an "elite" group and seem to have a deep seated need to condescend or humiliate people who ask questions. There's also a "if you don't like it, change the code yourself, that's what this is REALLY about!" group as well. Some community. They seem to want a community of exclusion. Problem is that they tend to be very obnoxiously vocal. Too bad some of them are really knowledgable, but can't figure out how to be helpful. Thankfully, the LUG in my area is not that way. The usual M$ bashing, but mostly civil answers and real sharing. Lots of *nix professionals, too. Very nice. Anyway, my 2 cents. -Greg Date sent: Sat, 23 Apr 2005 22:19:50 -0500 From: Rod Engelsman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [email protected] Subject: Linux lists
Culture question: Why are some people on the Linux user's lists such assholes? I know you get a few everywhere, but they seem particularly prevalent there. They're like children. Rod
