Hi, More good digital tipping point news. You folks might remember that Adam Doxtater and I started a website for sharing hardware. You could call it open source hardware. It's basically an on-line inventory of hardware, some of it for sale, some of it for trade, but most of it for free. We don't monitor who puts what kind of hardware on the site, as long as it is computer related.
Anyway, the good news is that we have now gotten up to 38,000 plus item views, and that does not include the approximately 15,000 ad views that have dropped off with items that have been picked up, sold, given away, etc. http://www.DIYparts.org We are adding more cities all the time, and so if you would like to demo OOo on a box for someone, but don't have a spare box handy, just put up a request on DIYparts.org for an old computer, and someone in your town probably has one that you can pick up for free. I have found that giving away computers is a very powerful marketing tool for FLOSS, and it is something that Microsoft can't compete with. I really believe that we are gaining ground here, folks. You see little stories all the time, like Ben Horst's story about people recognizing his t-shirt. We are in the process of adding towns, so if you don't see your town listed in the search button in the upper right hand corner, just add your town's name in the forum, which is here: http://madpenguin.org/cms/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3595 Adam Doxtater is hoting that forum, which is why it is located at a MadPenguin.org page. Thanks again, Adam!
