I should probably ask this on a regular Linux list, and I may very well do
just that, but I thought I would start here for the heck of it.
Here's what I would like to do. I have my small home network -- three
computers, firewall, router, & printer -- and I would like to set up some
sort of mail agent that would check all our family's email accounts,
retrieve the mail, and then make it available via a local IMAP server. The
(external) email accounts are POP3, IMAP, Hotmail, and Gmail. That way I
could have a consistent view of my email regardless of which computer I was
using.
I will probably buy an old, otherwise obsolete, machine for the purpose
from a local shop. Something like a P-II. Totally non-GUI server setup.
I've been googling on this subject, and it looks like Courier may fit the
bill, but the docs assume a fairly high level of knowledge so I don't know
how hard it would be to set up.
Any wisdom would be appreciated. Thanks, guys.
