Actually, the earth's magnetic field is generated by, among other things,
the rotation of the plasma at the earth's core. The moon is attracted to
the earth by the earth's gravity field (remember Newton's Law, the
attraction is the inverse of the distance between them)
squared.
; the distance
between the moon and the earth at any given time results in tidal effects on
Earth; including water, possibly the plasma in the earth's core [which is
almost liquid], female folk, and if you're into astrology [which I ain't, I
prefer real science] can affect what happens to people on a daily basis.
Seems unlikely given the mass of a person or their body components but
could be something we have missed :-)
There's been some research done, by the way, on the influence of the
magnetic fields of High Voltage/High Amperage power lines on animals and
humans. The various power corporations say nothing happens, but if you
stand under a HV/HA power line with 10 turns of wire connected to a
voltmeter [set a high reading to start], it's amazing what the readings
are. Especially at 500 kV and 100 kA. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!
No dispute that power lines produce strong varying magnetic fields but
do they affect people? How many kids play with really strong magnets and
how many suffer health defects accordingly?
Farmers are smart, they've been putting 100 turns of #6 copper under power
lines for years, free power for the farm. Until it burns down.
This is why a lot of the high power transmission lines now use direct
current rather than alternating current. There was just too much
induction loss.
