It really seems to be a driver problem. Do you have any error messages
prior to the reboot? Does the system hang or become unresponsive prior
to rebooting?

Vanilla is the unmodified kernel from kernel.org
(Like vanilla ice-cream is the base flavour of all ice-creams)

The problem with your driver is that freescale provided it to you, it's
not part of the vanilla (official) kernel. We don't even have access to
the code. Do you have a technical contact at freescale? Can you provide
us a link where to download the freescale patches for your kernel?
