I immediately believe that, I run Ubuntu on my laptops and I'm happy to
do so.

It's just that at this level, where you will need to edit text files for
configuration anyway, those smooth desktop-oriented distributions with
their nice graphical config tools provide little or no added value. And
their configuration defaults are likely to be less secure than those on
the more "difficult" distros.

If you're looking for a UNIX server system that is rock solid, secure,
and REALLY easy to manage from the console, try OpenBSD. You'll never
want to go back to Linux again;)
