Under FreeBSD the 1401 is supported with a custom kernel config that includes

device          crypto
device          cryptodev
device          hifn

The Hi/fn 7955 onboard supports 128/192/256 AES, but - no idea if ZFS
is /dev/crypto aware - I'd be surprised if GELI isn't.
