Good luck and I have also appreciated the advice and camraderie of this list.
I am running NetBSD, and my net5501 bought in 2011 is still working just fine. I am eyeing an apu4c4, which feels like it might be like a net8501 if such a thing existed and were reliable. But the edgerouter lite is interesting too. I know people have run NetBSD on the ERL3: https://blog.netbsd.org/tnf/entry/hands_on_experience_with_edgerouter and haven't been following the newer ones. It sounds like there is OpenBSD support for that (yay) and I wonder how different the 6P vs 3 is hardware wise. Perhaps one of the BSDs can host a mailinglist for running BSD/Linux (or maybe Linux people have a home?) on headless reliable multi-interface boxes, which I think these days is pc engines and edgerouters. Perhaps some other-fruit Pi with multiple interfaces and enough ram.
