Good point. Would it matter if the IF is at, say, 30 kHz or 455 kHz? No real difference in term of phase noise, however it sounds much more difficult to sample a 455 kHz signal rather than a 30kHz one..... 455 kHz IF can be also used in an image rejection receiver (IRR) Gérard Why not sample the often used 455 kHz IF directly?
