Yeah, I see now...

So I have a particle cloud with strands defined. Color is coming from the material of the cloud, not the strands. No matter what I've tried I can't seem to get the effect. Alpha appears to be cumulative where there is overlap. I must be doing something wrong. -- Joey Ponthieux LaRC Information Technology Enhanced Services (LITES) Mymic Technical Services NASA Langley Research Center __________________________________________________ Opinions stated here-in are strictly those of the author and do not represent the opinions of NASA or any other party. You can adjust overall transparency and the alpha does not accumulate when stacked. Not sure that is the best way to express the effect but it sounds somewhat like what you are looking for. The only problem may be that by default the alpha from this cuts through the rendered image. They are also transparent. When they render the transparency is additive where they overlap. I want to render them as though they were a matte, but still transparent. In other words if I were to render them as 100% opaque white as a pass, then reduce transparency in composite, thats the appearance I want. But I want to do this at render time, not comp. Transparency should not be additive. Is that possible? And I'm trying to avoid doing this as a pass. Thanks. -- Joey Ponthieux LaRC Information Technology Enhanced Services (LITES) Mymic Technical Services NASA Langley Research Center __________________________________________________ Opinions stated here-in are strictly those of the author and do not represent the opinions of NASA or any other party.
