Unless I'm wrong :
I don't think it is possible to change the ID number in Softimage.
You can't Set Self.ID
You can, reorder the Self.ID But you'll have to Set it to another name
(Sel.SortID for example).
Sort Array and Sort Array with Key are doing this.
