Hi all

i have one doubt regarding the service/daemons
which runs under the inetd server on solaris 7 ,

i am using the tcp wrapper programme with in
inetd.conf to run the inetd services like in.telnetd,
in.ftpd ,in.rshd etc ..

now the thing is that whenever the user fails to
authenticate using the telnet the log just says
"login: pam_authenticate: error Authentication failed
" without giving details about the login id (user id)
which the user has tried for the un sucessful login
attempt ,

and for ftp the case is worst as the logs just gives
connection from 1.1.1.1 in.ftpd , thats it , no info
whether the user has sucessfully logedin or not etc

is there any way by which i can achive both of this,
i mean
1) logging the uid in the failed/sucessful telnet and
SU attempts
2) logging the uid in the failed/sucessful ftp login
attempt

kindly help me as m new to this , i am sure that many
guys must be getting this info , even linux gives
these sort of detailed info in logs , then why can't
the solaris gives it in logs ???????

btw i am running solaris 7

regards
Prashant
