Hola Francisco, You should read the comp.os.unix.shell FAQ (from the old usenet times, when there was no web browsing). They are still there...
http://www.faqs.org/faqs/by-newsgroup/comp/comp.unix.shell.html In short, there are two options: a shell reads several files upon starting. One is system-wide, so all users of the same shell will read this, and the other is local to that user (in the user's directory). If using ksh, or bash, my option is to modify /etc/profile, which is system-wide. If using csh (or a derivative, like tcsh), use /etc/cshrc.login pd: please, DO read the FAQ...! (all of them 7 parts!)
