I'm using solaris 9, but I think the settings are the same. 

The file which stores the windows to bring up on launch is:

~/.dt/sessions/current.old/dt.session

on my machine.

If you have your desktop the way you want it <and>
If you have the Startup Style manager set to "Return to Home session" <and>
You click on "Set Home Session" in the Startup Style Manager, I think you can reset 
your desktop to always appear the same. 

"Startup Style Manager" is selected using the "Desktop Controls" box at the bottom.
