Are you the only admin for that machine?

I like bash, but normally I use the default sh as startup-login shell, and I 
switch to bash when I am in. This way, I don't conflict with other admins who 
also look at the machine and like their own shells (there is one who likes 
tcsh, another likes ksh, and so on).

as I know, no....
u can use bash under solaris. and i think most of users do the same.
