yes it has been edited. the netmasks file contains the ff:

192.168.7.0     255.255.255.0

the ifconfig -a result is attached.

Did you edit /etc/inet/netmasks ?
"192.x.x.x" means C Class Address, so ifconfig would configure the netmask
as "255.255.255.0" and the broadcast as "192.168.7.255" automaticaly.
Can you show me your "ifconfig -a" ?
