The openwin tool, included with Solaris is /usr/openwin/bin/snapshot
The CDE tool, included with Solaris is /usr/dt/bin/sdtimage
A common freeware tool that many people use for this task is xv, and can be found on http://www.sunfreeware.com/

Note - you can use sdtimage in Openwin and you can use snapshot in CDE.

Hi,
If you're using the Java Desktop, just hit the "Print Screen" key. It will open a dialog asking you where to save, etc. I'm not sure if CDE does the same thing.
