It appears I have a duff CD....although I managed to install the OS from the 
same disc, it doesn't like reading the s1 slice.
I am burning another copy to find out.

I managed to install Solaris 8 jumpstart OK so I reckon a new CD of Sol9 
software 1 will do the trick!
