Can you read the backup? Is the data there? If the dd was done correctly, you 
should be able to extract it on the target machine. 

ufsdump, tar, cpio, gzip, pax.  Best bet, use ufsdump.

Yes, I have backup from the opt8.disk that I made with 'dd' utility on my
solaris8 machine from its /opt . Can you please let me know what other
utilities can be used on my solaris8 to make an image from its /opt to be
imported to my qemu solaris26 as its third virtual disk?
