This shows that GNU Solfege really needs help from a hacker that knows
sound programming. Both linux and win32 experience is needed. Help.
Help! HELP!!!! Anybody out there????

I did look at the windows code, and found some inconsistencies, but I
don't know if they will make any difference. I have uploaded a test
release to http://tcamundsen.net/ Please test it and let me know how
it compares to 3.18.0. Beware that I have never myself been able to
connect an external midi keyboard and get Solfege to play sounds on
that. So if that works, I guess it must be plain luck.

What I found was that selecting the program would select the device
above the one selected in the preferences window, and silently revert
to device 0 if an error occured. The 3.18.0.test1 release will has
changed this so I think it is correct. And if you run the debugging
version (your issue 2 is fixed) you will see some messages to the
terminal window.

I'll fix this for 3.18.1. It is a bug caused by me enabling some old
broken code in a devel release because someone wanted to work on it.
