That was the first SOLR-139 design!
Having thought about it for a while, i think there are nice advantages to
keeping the updating/modifying outside of the UpdateHandler - the biggest one
is that various RequestHandlers *could* transform the document differently.
I'm putting together a hybrid example that (I hope) answers questions about
chains/configuration/transformation, etc. I'll post it shortly.
