FunctionQuery would just be the interface to the underlying geo distance
function... it doesn't seem like it should affect the memory requirements of
that underlying function (however it's currently implemented in local solr).
Use of TrieRange could just be another implementation detail on how to quickly
implement a bounding box function... it doesn't sound like it's necessarily
needed with the cartesian tier strategy.
