HttpDataSource common fields

Hi,

I have a question about the HttpDataSource (DataImportHandler) ...
Is it possible add common values *explicitly*, something like:

<field column="column" value="value" commonField="true" />

Im blanking on if xpath has a command / option to return back just a  
string literal (vs. node).
