You don't need a memory leak to get a OOM error in Java. It might just happen that the amount or RAM allocated by the virtual machine is used up. If you are running Solr as in the example, via Jetty on the command line, try java -server -jar start.jar Or try the -Xmx parameter, e.g. java -Xmx1024M -jar start.jar If you are using Tomcat or something else, you might want to look into the docs on how to deal with the memory limit.
