Are you certian that the network setup for your master & slave machines alows them to talk to eachother? you said you could fetch the files from the master via wget, but i'm guessing you were running this from your local machine -- are you certain that when logged in to 192.168.2.174 you can reach port 8080 of 192.168.2.204? -Hoss
