Okay, I hae figured it out, at least partially... Something about the Nvidia driver causes me to lose compiz and backlight controls, even when I'm in Stamina Mode.
Leaving ALL settings the same, all switch scripts, etc...by simply uninstalling the Nvidia 180 driver, and leaving my machine in stamina, all returned to normal... I will now try to reinstall Nvidia, and blacklist in the /etc/modprobe.d/sony.conf file... If anyone else knows how to help me fix this, it's greatly appreciated. This is my production machine, and I knew I should have not tried this till the weekend :( Thanks, Anthony On Thu, Jun 18, 2009 at 9:20 AM, Albert Vilella <avile...@gmail.com> wrote: > That sounds promising! > > >> ALSO, I found an interesting hiccup that may help you gurus figure out hot >> switching...After I couldn't get my brightness or Compiz working, I figured >> that I'd try to re-test the sony module .9 by Eva...I was in speed mode, and >> really wasn't thinking...When I did a "make test" the x server died, and the >> light switched from speed to stamina, but the computer was still running! >> Nothing I did would bring up another x session and I couldn't get to a >> terminal, but it still did "hot switch," in a sense!
