1. The only difference between European and USA models is model name.
VGN-Z series use only two different version of BIOS, the old one (Z1x, Z2x, 5xx) and new (Z3x, Z4x, Z5x, 6xx...8xx). European Z4x is USA 7xx, but you can download BIOS update from support page for any model from 6xx to 8xx.

2. Dude of course all this things is unofficial, if you are so scared - use original pre-installed Windows only ;P

Ad 1) List of US VAIO notebooks is completely different from European
list. So for example, my model is VGN-Z41XD, but on the US site is not
this model mentioned at all.

Ad2) I am happy that FlashIt works for you, but this is unofficial
source and there is no guarantee that will be work for my notebook
too. The main problem is, that this is only one way procedure if the
FlashIt failed during the operation.

1. You can download BIOS update from USA site and extract it using
"universal extractor"
2. You can get FlashIt here http://www.sendspace.com/file/dzcv0j (works fine
for my VGN-Z21)
3. FlashIt syntax "flashit [romfilename] /all"
