Hi, I've the same machine. I've found 2 workarounds.
First one is to patch the bios to put video into static mode: http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/473226-insyde-hacking-new-vaio-z-advanced-menu-bios.html <http://forum.notebookreview.com/sony/473226-insyde-hacking-new-vaio-z-advanced-menu-bios.html>The second one is to first boot into 2.6.28 kernel to init video.
