err, obviously I meant this example the other way; if it had been written as: MAN+= \ foo.7 \ bar.7 as the natural order of metasyntactic variables (foo, bar), then doing M-x sort-lines on the content lines would yield: MAN+= \ bar.7 foo.7 \
