Hmm, running out of space during a remote upgrade can be quite a serious problem and it's very easy to do it if you have softdeps. If it happens while untarring base you are usually screwed. Maybe we should tell people to disable the softdep mount option in fstab (and reboot) before they undertake a remote upgrade...
