This message is especially meant for Timo, lately our head developer ;-) As he has been dealing with the UI, he might still be in the inertia to fix the following:
The split panel sizes are stored in the user preferences, so that the latest values are restored at client startup. However, when you log into a repository, they are superseded and the left-side tree panel is shown with a fixed width, no matter how wide you had set it the previous time. It's a petty thing, hardly qualifiable as a bug, but if the sizes are stored in the preferences, they ought to be used. Otherwise, let's avoid the work of saving them everytime. Do the changes you checked in need to be merged with anything? Or did you do it yourself already?
