YAMBIO, 03 November 2011 [Gurtong] – Kisanga, who had been delegated
by the State Governor to chair a reconciliation meeting on the border
conflict at Ri-Tigi area, said the findings point to an urgent need to
resolve the issue that has been simmering over time.

“ I am going to recommend to the Governor to direct the State Ministry
of Physical Infrastructure to visit the area to conduct a survey and
place a beacon between the two counties so as to end the conflict as
it is contributing to insecurity in the two counties”, said Kisanga.

He made the remark while briefing a delegation from UNMISS Civil
Affairs sector on the current situation of the border conflict.

He said that the reconciliation meeting held last week did not bear
any fruits as the two sides failed to agree on the exact border point.

Head of the UNMISS delegation William Vitti called for an immediate
resolution of the border impasse and at the same time commended the
Western Equatoria State government for its efforts to address the
issue.
