To All South Sudanese Students in Universities and Higher Institutions of Learning within South Sudan and Worldwide.
NOV. 11/2011, SSN; Dear Compatriots The United South Sudan party (USSP) takes this opportunity to reach out to All South Sudanese Students in universities and higher institutions of learning worldwide and invite them to join in the democratic process that has started in South Sudan since the 9th of January 2011 when our people went out in their millions and voted in the self determination referendum that eventually sealed our long awaited dream of independence and sovereignty. Political leadership in the new republic of South Sudan has hit the lowest nadir since the SPLM-led successive governments only reshuffle under the commandership of President Salva Kiir Mayardit and his deputy Riek Machar Teny with no any intentions beyond the strategy of clinging firmly to power while the entire South Sudan sinks in a typical titanic fashion, into an abyss of poverty, disease, corruption, insecurity, lawlessness and anarchy. Those of you that keenly follow the recent developments in our country know how the huge discussions on corruptions and the massive embezzlements of the public money stands to test the really essence of having a National Legislative Assembly in Juba. However we shouldn’t be caught out by surprise should this very parliament as it stands - totally diluted by elements hand-picked by the leadership of the very government under-scrutiny now on one hand, while on the other hand there are the others whose very existence depends on the worthlessness of the discussions as long as the relevant bills are not in place to direct the course of justice in such cases. The future of a democratic and law abiding South Sudan lies in your hands you the youth of today. Tomorrow belongs to you and unless you come up to shape the future of your country by offering a potential alternative, then whatever blood was shed during the liberation struggle will only be for a few to pocket at a time when millions of the down trodden masses go without. The National Dialogue will have to start. It will discuss all the issues from employment, free education, free health-care, security, and national unity, but without a viable and vibrant participation from the youth and especially you those who are pursuing higher education, the debate will lack its most important element and that is the view of the future leaders. As we rightly know liberation is a promise of a young South Sudan, the promise that there would be, always, “something new out of South Sudan”. While drawing upon African traditions of South Sudan, independence is also a generational revolt, of the young against the old. It is a new dawn, not a return to the past. It is this promise of YOUTH ENFRENCHISEMENT which is in fact one of the most fundamental pledges of liberation as articulated by those who set the trend of thought inside the USSP. Unfortunately at the national level, the government of the day and its ruling party has deliberately neglected it. In USSP we are aware that many of the hopes of independence have been disappointed: among them is the PROMISE OF EMPOWERING THE YOUNG GENERATION. The African culture to which we all subscribe and pay allegiance, remains respectful of age, however the elders in South Sudan have on several occasions exploited this . They have abused the symbols of fatherhood, wisdom and experience to the full, and are now presiding over a ‘sclerotic’ system of governance which besides its premeditated appetite to loot the public funds, it clearly remains out of touch from the rapid pace of events worldwide. Join the United South Sudan Party [USSP] and help shape our country's future. Do you feel the same way we do about the kind of Republic of South Sudan [RSS] you want to live in? A RSS where there will be a first-class health service free at the point of use; where education will always be a priority; and where you and your family will be treated equally and can feel safe and secure? Do you want to participate in building a RSS which is ruled by a government that remains answerable to the people who elected it? Do you want to live in a country where the rule of law reigns, and corruption in all its forms are punishable by the law? Then, join us and be part of our journey. Maybe you already support USSP in your everyday life? Maybe you have thought about joining but not actually done it? Maybe you think you are too young, too old or too busy? Maybe it's because nobody has asked you. We're asking you now. Join us and help shape our country's future.
