The Minister of Gender, Child and Social Welfare, Agnes Kwaje Lasuba
on Tuesday visited the wounded Sudan People's Liberation Army (SPLA)
soldiers in Juba Military Hospital.

"We as a ministry of social welfare have also come to give our little
contribution," Kwaje said of the soldiers wounded during the recent
confrontation with Sudan along the borders.

"Above all, we came to tell the soldiers that we as women and mothers
we share their pain and at the same time we feel for them because we
are their mothers".

"They are our sons, our brothers, our husbands, you name it. So we are
part and parcel of the pain they are going through and of the struggle
they are going through".

She said her visit to wounded soldiers has been delayed by her
official trips to Warrap, Western Bahr el Ghazal, Lakes and Upper Nile
states.

The acting medical director of the hospital, Major Marial Majur Cikom
welcomed the support of the ministry and said the soldiers were
responding well to treatment.

"All the cases are now okay. During the first two weeks, it was really
very bad, but after three weeks all the cases were treated well and
improved and we are planning to discharge them," Majur said of the
wounded soldiers.

Majur said most cases being treated are limb and head injuries, saying
the number of the wounded is big and all the wards are full.
