Wednesday, 16 May 2012 05:26 Lagu Francis Regional >>> . The African Union (AU) lead mediator for Sudan and South Sudan, also former South African President Thabo Mbeki, is expected in Khartoum to discuss details of resumption of negotiations between the two countries. The official spokesman of Sudan's foreign ministry, Al-Obaid Adam Marawih, said in a statement that Khartoum was awaiting the arrival of Mbeki either "on Wednesday or Thursday." Both countries are currently under pressure from the AU and the UN Security Council, to honour the May 2nd UN Security Council resolution. The resolution warns of non-military sanctions if both parties do not cease hostilities and resume negotiations. Sudanese president Omer Hassan al-Bashir says his government will not take part in the talks unless issues to do with security are first addressed. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
