IOM: 3000 returnees airlifted to Juba so far
Saturday, 19 May 2012 08:30 Lagu Francis South Sudan >>> . The International Organization for Migration (IOM) says it has airlifted about 3,000 returnees from Khartoum to Juba since the operation began on Monday. The IOM Chief of Mission in South Sudan, Vincent Houver, said the airlifting of returnees will continue until mid-June. "Given that we haven't been able to send as many people as we thought each day, we are probably going to get into the beginning of June," he said. Houver says the repatriation is voluntary for those who are willing to come from Kosti to South Sudan. As more returnees are arriving, IOM has established a new transit facility at Kopuri outside Juba. However, the returnees expressed concerns over their conditions in the camp and the delay of the arrival of their assets and luggage from Kosti. According to IOM, about 100 returnees are leaving the transit camps on a daily basis to join their relatives in Juba. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "South Sudan Info - The Kob" group.
