The South Sudan government has rescheduled plans to resume oil
production and exports out of neighboring Sudan.

The governor of Unity State, Taban Deng Gai, has briefed the state
legislative assembly on the postponement.

Governor Gai, told the MPs that the north wants assurances from the
south that they will disarm rebels of the SPLM-North that are fighting
the Sudanese government in South Kordofan and Blue Nile States.

South Sudan has on several occasions denied any association with the
SPLM-North rebel group. Governor Gai explains.

"The head of the state owned Nile Petroleum Corporation (NilePet),
Paul Adong, is also quoted by the AFP news agency as saying the
postponement is on account of security concerns raised by the Khartoum
government. President Salva Kiir, was expected to re-launch production
and export through the Juba-Khartoum pipeline this Wednesday."

Governor Gai, addressed the MPs on the opening day of a new session,
after a four months recess.

The speaker, Simon Maguek Gai, told the MPs to render services to their people.
