HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS RAMPANT IN SOUTH SUDAN

Human rights violations and arbitrary arrests are rampant in South Sudan.

Juba Monitor chief Editor Alfred Taban told journalists in a training
workshop on Human Rights that they should be trained on the rampant
human rights violations in the country so that they can report some of
the cases, Bakhita Radio reported.

Mr Taban added that human rights are not understood in South Sudan and
there is need to sensitize the citizens about their rights.

He explained that some citizens might go without food because some
government officials violated their rights for food.

Mr Taban said the Government was also participating in violating some
of the rights.

He contested that the Government should protect people who are not
proven guilty and protect the rights of individuals.
