PERSONS WITH DISABILITY APPEAL FOR EQUALITY, RESPECT

Thursday, 18 April 2013 14:08 |

Persons with disability in Eastern Equatoria State have appealed to
the Government to accord them equal considerations in every sector.

Philemon Loriang Alimpo, working at the State Ministry of Gender and
Social Development, made the appeal during an interview with Radio
Emmanuel.

He called on the entire population to give equal respect to the people
with disability.

Mr Loriang said people with disability have never been represented
equally in both public and private sectors.

He urged the state government to ensure equal involvement of people
with disability in all the available employment opportunities.

Aluma Rashid, another person with disability working at Torit Omoliha
Market, encouraged colleagues never to wait for financial assistance
from others but to engage in income generating activities.

Patricia Ladu petitioned the government to consider the disabled
persons when planning public structures.

She urged the government for special care provision in both hygiene
and hospital care.

Ms Ladu stated that many people with disability failed to access
public offices because the buildings did not favour them.
