WAU, 21 April 2013[Gurtong] -“The police administration has only
decided to retrain these police officers so that they cannot forget
the police regulations and rule of law as per their duty,” said the
state Acting Police Commissioner Albino Mariano.

He said that the officers will not be trained like the new recruits
who may sometime takes some months or a year because they have been
serving and only need to refresh their minds for the sake of regaining
more discipline.

Maraino also said that the officers are trained to get full combats to
fight high rate of crimes.

However, they have acquired more training from the United Nations and
they should to be retrained to control any further challenges ahead of
the upcoming 2015 elections.

Last year, violence erupted in Wau town where the police department
was blamed for failing to impose laws and orders to disperse the
angered protesters who were aiming to storm into government buildings.

The failure immediately led to the suspension of the former state
police commissioner Major General Joseph Sebit Makalele in December by
the state governor.
