Torit-Katiko referral Hospital constructed seven years ago in Kapoeta
South County of Eastern Equatoria state has been overtaken by termites
and in the state of collapsing.

SPLM Deputy Secretary-General, Ann Itto on her visit to the facility
on Saturday pitied the miserable state of the multi-million US dollars
investment and described it as “wasted resources”, Radio Emmanuel
reported.

She expressed disappointment over the poor planning of the health facility.

Dr Itto said the far location of the facility from Kapoeta town, its
isolation from the community and poor construction materials are big
concerns.

The SPLM Deputy Secretary-General demands that the people responsible
be punished for the mistakes committed for wasting resources.

Katiko is one of the ten Hospitals Normeca AS, Norwegian company
constructed in each state of South Sudan to improve the health
situation of the people of South Sudan.

cost 18 million Euros was termed one of the best equipped hospitals in
Central Africa.

Other facilities included 160 beds accommodation for hospital staff
and transport, an electronic patient journal system, computers,
printers, identification card system and a server with 400 G memory.

Normeca AS expected the life span of the prefabricated buildings
facility to be at least 30 to 50 years.
