University Sets Fees, Ready For Reopening
The Upper Nile University has released the 2012/2013 fees structure for the students to make payments as it prepares for reopening. 22 April 2013 By Jok P Mayom MALAKAL, 21 April 2013 [Gurtong]- The Deanship of Students Affairs Ustaz Malony Keer has set the fees payment for the students to prepare for the registration process according to the school calendar Upper Nile University has a plan to open and allow students study since the students stayed for almost for two years without studies as the institution was affected by the referendum and austerity measures. The students were not paying before specially the returnees but due to lack of funds the university administration has suggested payment of fees this to allow learning. “The first year students for the faculty of Education Art department will pay 970 South Sudanese Pounds (SSP) while Science Department Pays 1,170 SSP with the old students (2nd, 3rd, 4th years) paying 530 SSP for Arts and 630 SSP for Science respectively. “The first year students in the faculty of Public health and environmental health will pay 1,370 SSP while the old students (2nd, 3rd, 4th years) will pay 630 SSP,” said Malony. “Students in the Faculty of Animal Production will pay 1,170 SSP while the old student (2nd, 3rd, 4th years) pays 630 SSP,” he added. The First Year Students of Veterinary Medicine will pay 1,370 SSP while the old students (2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th years) will pay 630 SSP. He added that the first year admission for the faculty of medicine will pay 2,370 SSP and the first year students of Nursing School will pay 1,370 SSP. “The college of medicine and nursing school does not have the old students because the students were to study in Bari University in Khartoum after being transferred from Upper Nile University branched (in Sagana Khartoum) where the college was previously,” he said. “The newly admitted first year economic students will pay 1,170 SSP. They don’t have their old students since it is the first time to have the admission of economic students,” he said adding that “The first year student in the faculty of Human Development Diploma and degree students will both pay the same amount of 1,170 SSP while the old students for Diploma program which was there previously will pay 830 SSP,” According to Keer, the first year students in the faculty of Agriculture (in Renk Town) will pay 1,170 while the old students pay 630 SSP and those studying at the faculty of Forestry (in Renk Town) will also pay 1,170 SSP while the old students pay 630 SSP. he deanship of Students Affairs also said that the fees mentioned includes the hostel accommodation in which first year’s hostel accommodation fees is 100 and old students 150 SSP respectively. The hostels to be opened includes Medina Salaam Hostel near Malakal Stadium for other faculties and New Site Hostels for students in the faculties of; Medicine, Nursing, Public health and Veterinary Medicine. “Students in various faculties will get the details of their payment procedures from their registrars,” he said. Keer urged the students to hurry for registration as the registration deadline is near to enable them get identification cards faster. The students are to pay half for first semester then complete the payment in the second semester.
