TORIT, 28 April 2013 [Gurtong] – Minister Claudio Suleiman Liling says
that the state government is negotiating with chiefs in Budi County to
persuade the communities and help the security agents to arrest
suspects of the Budi County violence.

He says that not all the people in Lorema, Kikilai were involved in
the confrontations with the security but about 20 individual suspects.

The minister has appreciated the fact that organized cattle raiding in
Eastern Equatoria state had reduced to theft cases but laments the
practice suddenly gained momentum from August last year.

About 20 people are reported killed and 18 were wounded including
officers of the armed forces during the Bira and Lorema
confrontations.

Minister Liling urges the Bira community not to take revenge saying
the state government seeks peaceful means through chiefs in Budi
County to recover the raided animals and return them to the owners.
