Juba Man Detained For Rape And Death Of A 10-Year-Old Girl In Gudele
A Juba man, 50, is suspected to have raped and strangled to death a 10-year-old girl in Gudele area. 16 May 2013 By Waakhe Simon Wudu JUBA, 15 May 2013 [Gurtong] -The girl identified residing in Gudele with her aunt was on Monday raped and strangled to death by a man identified as Hassan who is said to be in his 50s. The girl was taking care of her cousin who is said to be one and half-year-old baby at the time of the baleful. The aunt to the girl while narrating the ordeal to the press said she left the house at around 10am on Monday on her return she found no one in the house. She was immediately alarmed. On search, she found her baby crying at neighbor’s house. Later on, she was found in a vehicle parked in her compound locked inside and helpless. She immediately called neighbors. “When I tried pulled the car’s door it was hard. Immediately I decided to call for my mum and told her come and see I don’t know what happened to this girl. When my mum came after seeing she decided to go to the neighbor to come and witness what had happened,” the aunt said. Immediately they called police and the girl was found helpless. Her pair of short was worn off from her and saliva was flowing from the mouth, the aunt explained. She was immediately rushed to hospital. But by 3am she passed away. The postmortem results indicate that she was strangled and she also had signs of rape. The suspect identified as Hassan is currently in detention in Munuki Police Station. Upon presentation of the issue to a clique of legislators headed by the second Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Hon. Fatuma Nyawang yesterday at the parliament, the MPs are yet to come up with a resolution on the matter. Fatuma had called for calm in the family expressing her pity on behalf of the August House on the situation. Meanwhile, she together with some of the women legislators have agreed to the women’s call to launch a protest against the matter.
