BOR, 17 May 2013 [Gurtong] – “On their way to Pinyundu, they fell into
Murle militia ambush. Immediately, three of them were killed and six
others got wounded. On the same day, two soldiers riding bicycles fell
into the ambush and also got killed,” Abulla Told Gurtong on Thursday.

Abulla said that the county government managed to send the organized
forces to verify the killings. He said killing has become a constant
case in the county, adding that people in Pochalla County are farmers
but with the killings, the farmers fear to carry on with their
activities.

He said that the government needs to do something so that the people
would cultivate for themselves. According to the legislator, three
days ago, three other people were also killed there.

Last week, three Ugandans were also killed along the Juba-Bor road
when a group of unidentified gunmen ambushed the vehicle they were
travelling in.

The ambushes are being suspected to be the works of rebel David Yau
Yau, who first rebelled in 2010 after failing the state parliamentary
seat contest. He accepted an amnesty in 2011 only to take up arms
again a year later.

Despite a recent thaw in relations between Sudan and South Sudan,
Philip Aguer, the Sudan’s Liberation Army Spokesperson, the Yau-Yau
led rebels get assistance from Sudan's National Intelligence and
Security Services in the form of airdrops of weapons, ammunition and
supplies.

"We are convinced beyond reasonable doubt that Khartoum has been
supplying them up to now," Aguer said.

The Geneva-based Small Arms Survey, which tracks weapon supplies, said
in a recent report much of the rebels' equipment comes from Khartoum.
Sudan has denied the charges.
